About

Michael is a classically-trained composer and pianist, now working as a freelance composer, orchestrator, arranger and teacher. He won a scholarship to study composition at the Royal Academy of Music under Paul Patterson, graduating with First Class Honours in 2003. He was awarded third prize in the Oticons International Film Scoring Competition, 2014, and awarded first prize at the National Young Composer of the Year Competition in 1997.

Recent work spans 17 feature films — from Gagarin: First in Space (2013) to Maestro (2023) — as well as production music for InStyle Music, concert commissions performed in the UK, USA and Russia, and a series of 25 singles released 2023–2025 on all streaming platforms.

Michael previously worked for Sibelius Software (later Avid) as a developer and now works as part of Steinberg's London-based notation team. He lives in Sandy, Bedfordshire.
